Covid 19 update

Now that club activities have resumed we ask all players parents members and supports to adhere to the HSE, Government and GAA protocols and guideline.

Please note

 The above activity is only permitted on the understanding that all participants, coaches, parents etc., have to have completed the eLearning course, see link, (https://courses.gaa.ie/Covid19ClubEd/#/ ) and all participants must adhere to the control measures in place.

All players and parents of underage players must complete the Health Questionnaire prior to all training and games.

It is important to remember that this return to activity is as a result of people acting responsibly and we cannot stress enough the importance the need to continue with this and encourage everyone to take their own measures such as having their own sanitizer, and exercising caution and respect for others at all times. 

Bingo and the club bar remain closed.We ask all club members and people in our community to observe the Government and HSE and GAA protocols and STAY SAFE

Important notice regarding Membership

With the return to playing just around the corner it is vital that all players must register. This can be done via anyone of our Committee or online at www.thedownsgaa.com.

We encourage people to use online where possible during the health crisis.

Club Lotto

We will continue to live stream or Lotto draw via our Facebook page for the foreseeable future. Tune in at 9-30 on each Monday night to catch the draw.

Ag FéachaintSiar -1986 SFC Semi Final

This group of players were pitted against Tang in the semi - final of the senior championship in July 1986. In a closely contested encounter where Tang were full value for the their half time lead, it took a magnificent score from Noel Egerton who landed the winning point from all of fifty meters to give victory to The Downs by the narrowest of margins and heart break for Tang, who were extremely unlucky not to have at least earned a draw. The Downs went on to face Mullingar Shamrocks in the final where they succumbed to three point defeat.

Club Shop.

Due to current restrictions the shop will remain closed. However club gear will be on sale at the entrance to the clubhouse on Friday evenings from 6- to  7-45. This will be a limited service and we ask for your cooperation and patience during these restrictions.

It would be helpful if that those requiring club gear could contact Carmel on 0879496347 and place their orders in advance, for collection on Friday evenings.

Underage Registration/Coaching

It’s great to see all of the young boys and girls back in action since last Friday. 

A reminder to parents to ensure that they have the eLearning course completed and also to complete the Health Questionnaire in advance of each training session and games. This can be done via an online App. If you have any difficulties please contact your child’s coach

The Downs Ladies GFC

Training for senior ladies on Tuesday and Thursday nights 7-30 pm.

Fixture for senior championship week ending the 26th of July versus Garrycastle. Venue to be confirmed.

U/16 training Tuesday and Thursday nights 7-00 to 8-00.

Sympathy

The Downs GAA Club wish to express its sincere sympathy to the families, relatives and friends of the late Terry Bermingham Durrow, Tullamore, and the late Conor Morris, Patrick St., Mullingar.

Changes to our Club messaging service

The club has made changes to its messaging service. The Teamer messaging system that you have been familiar with has been discontinued. 

You will now, only be able receive club messages via a new APP called ‘ClubZap’. You will need a smartphone to access this App Go to the App Store download the App and follow the simple instructions to register.
