Club Developments

The Club has embarked on another phase of its ambitious development programme. Ground works commenced last October and substantial progress has been made to date. A new fence has been erected around our main pitch. A new drainage system has been installed and new viewing terrace is nearing completion. In spring 2020, the redevelopment of our juvenile pitch will commence and a state of the art playing surface and associated lighting for training purposes will be completed by early summer.  As part of this development our existing walk way will also be extended and lighting will be installed. When completed we will have walking circut of approximately of approximately 1.6km. The walkway will ensure a safe and traffic free environment for its users.

Some disruption has taken place during construction and we thank you for your cooperation and patience during this phase.

Club Calendar 2020

For the last number of years we have been producing a Club Calendar, as a fundraiser for our underage. The calendar chronicles various club activities and occasions through a wonderful series of splendid photos. This is a lovely item which can double as Christmas present or a momenta for your relatives and friends at home and abroad. Copies are now available in the Club Shop, Flynn Fuels and in the clubhouse bar and retail at €10 each or two for €15. Thanks to Bernie Conneely, Norma Mullen John McCauley, Tommy Macken, Danny Boyce, Westmeath Topic, Westmeath Examiner for their photographs. We also thank all those who sponsored this production.

Scór Na nÓg

With no time to rest on their laurels after winning the county final last week we had three groups representing the club and Iarmhí in the Leinster Semi Final of Scór Na nÓg, in Oldcastle on Sunday last. Well done to Emily Shaw who qualified for the final of the Aithriseoireach (Recitation), and to Grace O’Neill, Ciara Conneely, Emily Shaw, Cian Colgan, Sean Corroon, Ryan Molloy, Caoimhe Monaghan and Alan Colgan who qualified in the Novelty Act. Hard luck to our Rince Foirne, who were a little unlucky not to have qualified. Also well done to Bunbrosna, St. Joseph’s and Moate All White’s who also qualified. Best of luck to all the contestants in the Leinster Final which takes place in Drogheda on the 12th of January.

Senior Citizens Annual Christmas Party

For the last number of years the Club plays host at Christmas time to the elder states people of the locality. This year’s event took place in the GAA Centre on Sunday last and was a great success, yet again. On the day proceedings began at 2-00pm where guests were treated to a four course Christmas dinner. Later in the afternoon, music and entertainment was provided and all our guests had a wonderful evening of conversation and dancing.

Well done to the organising committee, caterers and to all those who provided spot prizes and other support for what can only be described as very worthwhile social event.
