Our annual club mass for deceased members, friends and neighbours takes place this Wednesday December 4th @ 730pm

Club AGM

We held our AGM last Saturday November 30^th. It was well attended and very constructive. There were two Officer Changes with Patrick Kenny taking over from Davy Monaghan as Minor Chairperson and Aiden McGuire replacing Shane Carroll as PRO. The club would like to wish Patrick and Aiden the very best of luck with their new roles and thanks to Davy and Shane for their efforts over recent years.

U20 Champions

Our U20 became county champions last Sunday in Moate when they defeated Maryland/Tang 1-14 to 0-10. Our opponents started the game the stronger and opened up a 0-04 to 0-01 lead, with Eanna Burke getting our opening score. A jack Carroll penalty with ten minutes remaining in the first half brought the sides level and from this point onwards The Downs always looked full value for the win, leading 1-03 to 0-04 at half time. The Downs dominated the second half with the defence holding strong. The forwards continued to keep the score board moving and ensured a comfortable seven point win with captain Ciaran Nolan happily accepting the cup. Well done to the entire panel and the management team of Steven Cleary, Barry Conroy, Sean Carroll and Davy Monaghan

Bingo jackpot €10,600

Bingo continues every Friday at 8.30pm, come along and bring a friend for an enjoyable night’s entertainment.Volunteers are needed to help with Bingo on a rota for just one night per month. If interested contact Tommy 087-2949714 or any committee member.

Scór 

We hosted the Scór county final last Sunday, thanks to all who assisted on the night. Well done to all involved with Scór in The Downs as we won club of the year for 2019. That was not the only success we tasted on Sunday with our Rince Fóirne, Recitation and Novelty act all winning county titles. Well done to all and best of luck in the Leinster Semi Finals this Sunday in Oldcastle.
