The Downs Ladies

Our Ladies produced a fine display of football to make it 3 wins from 3 in this year’s SFC overcoming and very committed St. Mary’s side. This win was a small piece of history for our young club as it confirms our Ladies team have secured promotion to Group 1 of next year’s Senior Championship. The Ladies game continues to grow and develop and it’s great to see our own Club footballers gaining promotion in their first year at this level. Anyone who has attended this year’s matches will confirm that these championship games are tough physical contests with no shortage of footballing ability on show. The Club would like to thank everyone for their support to date – we have a young team and it’s great for them to see & hear a supportive crowd at these fixtures.

The Downs back line have performed well throughout this competition and in this particular contest they continued in that same vein whilst our midfield and forwards produced another fine display contributing 1-5 in the first half and then closing out the game with 3-7 in the 2nd half. Squad & scorers on the day as follows… Sarah Maguire, Aisling Egerton, Aoife Mullen, Aoife Rowan, Niamh Rowan, Leanne Duncan, Emma Murtagh, Megan Dowdall (1-1), Niamh Nolan, Olivia Glynn (1-0), Sheila McGrath (1-0), Ciara Faulkner (1-1), Britney McNamee (0-5), Ellen Taite (0-2), Lucy Power (1-3), Gillian Ferguson, Meadbh Scally, Ciara Wynne, Mary Lynam, Roisin Murray, Aine McManus, Leon Briek.

U16 Championship

Hard luck to our u16 ladies who lost out to Kinnegad. The girls put in a solid team performance with some great team work and excellent scores.
