Underage Football 

Underage football continues this Friday evening at the usual slot 6:30-7:30. The club shop will also be open for the duration of training.


The Downs GAA wish to extend their sincere sympathies to the Cleary family on the passing of Sean Cleary, late of Greatdown.

Reposing at Gilsenan's Funeral Home on Tuesday 28th from 4.30 o'c followed by removal to the Cathedral of Christ the King arriving at 6.30 o'c. Funeral Mass on Wednesday 29th at 10 o'c followed by burial in Coralstown Cemetery.

The club also extends sincere sympathy to the family of the late Dan McCarthy, Gaulmoylestown.

May they rest in peace. 


All Ireland Draw

Our annual All-Ireland ticket draw takes place this Friday with two pairs of tickets up for grabs. Tickets are on sale at €2 or three lines for €5, from any committee member or online. 

Minor Championship

The Minor lads had a good win last Wednesday evening away to St. Lomans at the Semi Final stage on a score line of 1-11 to 0-07. The lads now move into the final to face Maryland/Tang with time and date to be confirmed.


Our u8 team had a good run out in Cusack park with this being much of the team’s first experience of the venue playing against Mullingar Shamrocks and St. Lomans. Well done to all.

Family Day

We will host a family day on Sunday the 9th of September to commemorate our 125 years. It will be a fun filled day with novelty games for all ages.

The Downs Ladies GAA

Senior Championship 

The girls secured their second championship win in as many games with victory over Tyrrellspass last Sunday evening. The girls started impressively and held a commanding 3-08 to 2-04 lead. The Downs kept their high level of performance up in the second half adding a further two goals, giving the girls a much deserved win. Full time 5-15 to 2-09. The girls are out again this Thursday 30th in The Downs against Rochfortbridge at 6:30.


Well done to our U11 girls on Thursday evening last who played two games against St. Lomans. Well done to all.
