Junior Championship

The Downs opened their 2018 Junior Championship campaign with an impressive win over neighbours Killucan last Saturday evening. The Downs started the game with high tempo and were two goals to the good after only a number of minutes. The Downs kept their high pressure until the break leading 3-12 to 0-03. The game somewhat slowed in the second half and scores were not coming as frequent, however The Downs continued to be dominate and in control and ran out comfortable 3-18 to 0-07 winners.

Division 1

On Tuesday last we hosted Mullingar Shamrocks in division one. The visitors had a bright start and were gifted a soft goal mid way through the opening half, but it was long before The Downs got going with some excellent scores from Conor Murray, Luke Loughlin and Trevor Martin and went in at half time trailing by the narrowest of margins 1-08 to 0-10. The opening minutes of the second half indicated that the game would go the distance but unfortunately Shamrocks found another gear to pull away. Full Time 3-15 to 0-13.
