Division 5

On Friday last we welcomed Shandonagh to Kevin Molloy Park for our penultimate game in this division. We got off to a great start with Sean Loughlin and Donal Coughlan getting involved in the scoring, while Keith Carroll and Liam Faulkner were solid at the back. This gave us a five point lead at half time. Unfortunately in the second half, Shandonagh were quickest out of the blocks with some quick-fire scores. They clawed back our lead and despite some good attacks by the home team we were unable to get the victory. Full time score: The Downs 2-14 Shandonagh 4-14.

Division 3

On Sunday, we were away to Ballinagore. The opening half was quite even with both teams exchanging scores. However, we got two goals which allowed to us to enter the interval leading by two points. Immediately after the restart, The Downs scored a good point from the left boot of Niall Gavin. The Downs then began to assume control of the tie, with further scores coming from Ian Martin, Declan Lynam and PJ Maguire just to name a few, and eventually ran out winners. Some good defensive play from Conor Gavin, Eoghan Moore and Keith Carroll kept the Ballinagore scores to a minimum. Final score: Ballinagore 0-8 The Downs 2-12. This result means The Downs are still unbeaten in this division with one game left to play against our neighbours, Killucan.
