Division 3

The Downs picked up a vital two points in the league when we travelled to Castletown to take on St. Malachys in front of a large attendance. The Downs settled into the game well thank to a converted penalty by Shane Carroll followed up within minutes with an Ian Martin goal. The bright start proved vital in keeping The Downs in front during times when the home side dominated. Half time 2-07 to 1-08. The second half was close fought however The Downs remained in control with Eoghan Moore, Kevin Bell and Liam Faulkner keeping the St. Malachys forwards under pressure. It wasn’t until the latter stages with PJ Maguire found the net was the result decided. Full Time 3-13 to 1-12.

Our u12’s travelled to Newry last Saturday, for what is often regarded as the u12 All Ireland with 48 clubs taking part. A very high standard and competive football was on display. Our lads played five games against teams from Armagh, Down, Donegal, Derry & Antrim. Well done to our panel of 24 lads for representing the club with some super football. Thanks to Newry Mitchells for a great day of football.
