Division 3

On Wednesday last the division 3 side travelled to Multyfarnham with the aim to keep their unbeaten league campaign intact. Despite being down a number of bodies for various reason The Downs fielded a strong team and settled into the game early. Dylan Carroll found the net midway through the opening half with PJ Maguire adding a goal of his own a number of minutes later, leaving The Downs with a three point advantage at the interval. Unfortunately the downs had to play the second half with fourteen men following a red card before the break; as a result Multy began to dominate procession and soon took the lead The Downs were struggling for scoring opportunities. But with only seven minutes remaining PJ Maguire took a heavy hit which resulted in a penalty for The Downs which substitute Jack Carroll coolly converted to the bottom corner ensuring the game finished level and The Downs remain on course in division 3. The lads are out next Sunday away to St. Malachys at 7pm.
