U10 Boys

Well done to the U10 boys in participating at the blitz in The Downs during the week. Thanks to those involved in organising the event and a special thanks to Rosemount, Shandonagh, Milltownpass and Coralstown Kinnegad for travelling.

U12 Boys

Hard luck to our two U12 teams who came up against good opposition in Mullingar Shamrocks, last Wednesday evening in The Downs.

Division 5

Our Division 5 lads played host to Tubberclair, last Friday evening in the fourth round of this year’s campaign and were in search of their third win. Down a few bodies through injuries and exams the lads had to battle hard against a physically strong Tubberclair team. Sean Loughlin found the net minutes before the half time interval to give The Downs the advantage, 1-06 to 1-04. The Downs got off to a good start in the second half with points from Niall Folan and Shane Carroll, before Donie Coughlan assisted James Conroy for a second goal. The visitors began to dominate the ball for several minutes but struggled to break down The Downs defence which held strong and played well out in front. Philip Doherty got forward in the closing minutes to get a third goal for The Downs looping the ball into the roof of the net. Full time The Downs 3-14 to Tubberclair 1-11.

125 Jersey

The first delivery of our 125 jersey has arrived. Those who pre-ordered can collect their jersey from the club shop on Friday evenings. Subject to demand another order will be placed in the coming weeks so be sure to get your orders in. The red 125 logo is a throwback to the 1950’s when The Downs wore our traditional black and amber strips with red cuffs and collars.

Club Book

The club has reactivated this project in recent weeks and great progress is being made. The final pieces in the jigsaw that are now required are old photographs and memorabilia relating to the club or The Downs area. Do not hesitate to contact us if you have any interesting items, and thanks to those who have provided some fascinating material so far. Any queries on this should be sent to Aiden McGuire on 0862532327 or
