125 Committee

The Downs GAA club are celebrating 125 years since its formation in 1893. We are currently looking for volunteers to join our 125 committee. The main objectives of this committee will be to source ideas and implement celebratory plans throughout the year. Anyone who is interest in joining the committee or may have some interesting ideas is asked to contact any current committee member or contact Sean Carroll 087-5607659.

Division 5

Our Division 5 team kicked off their competitive league campaign on Easter Monday. We travelled to Rosemount to take on the home side in awful playing conditions. Both sides made the best of the poor conditions with some excellent scores and moves, despite difficult handling. Unfortunately we were on the wrong end of the result losing out 2-12 to 3-05. There were some positives to take from the game with some players making their adult debut. It was also good to see Sean Loughlin back on the pitch after a lengthy injury.

Under age Football

Underage football continues this Friday evening at the usual slot 6:30-7:30. The club shop will also be open for the duration of training.

First Aid

We are looking for volunteers to as first Aid Officers during our underage training on Friday evenings 6:30-7:30. Our aim is to get a number of suitably qualified people to work on a rota doing approximately one evening a month. If you are interested in helping in this way please contact Dave 086-0564182.

Minor League

Our minor lads continue their excellent start to the league with their forth win in as many games. The Downs ran out winners 6-20 to 3-08 over Caulry, last Saturday evening in The Downs.

The U12 lads are in action this Wednesday 11th of April in The Downs vs Athlone, at 7pm.

We would like to wish both our figure and set dancers in the All Ireland final this Saturday in Sligo. Also thanks to all who supported our table quiz last weekend, a special thanks to those who sponsored prizes.
