Senior B Championship

Semi-Final

We travelled to Castleday last Monday 30th to take on the home side in this year’s Senior B semi-final. The Downs had a strong team on display, which were fit and energetic throughout, Running out comfortable winners 1-28 to 3-11.

Final

On Sunday last, we hosted Maryland in the Senior B final. The Downs started this game with real conviction and soon began to open a convincing lead. Five first half goals, courtesy of Dylan Carroll, Brendan Murtagh and Shane Carroll (3), ensured The Downs were in a comfortable position at half time 5-13 to 1-02. The second half our lads played against a strong breeze which effected the free scoring performance that the first half produced, the scores appeared to dry up, however The Downs ran out comfortable winners 5-22 to 1-07. Well done to all players and management on a successful year. Team: Adam Loughlin, Cian Carty, Trevor, McCormick, Kevin Bell, Conor Coughlan, Shane Egerton (capt), Philip Doherty, Conor Murray, Joe Moran, Dean Egerton, Luke Loughlin, Niall Gavin, Shane Carroll, Brendan Murtagh, Dylan Carroll. Subs: Harry Caulfield, James Conroy, Conor Gavin, Steven Colgan, Niall Murray, Joe Coroon.

Community Games

The Downs Community games are hosting and information day on November 11th in the clubhouse from 4pm-6pm.

The Downs Ladies

Minor Final

Last Sunday our minor girls travelled to Kinnegad to play Killucan in the county final. Killucan got off to the better start in this one, despite The Downs playing with the breeze and led 1-03 to 1-01 after 15 minutes. Killucan’s position grew stronger as the half went on and led 2-04 to 1-01 at the interval. The Downs girls never gave up and began to close the gap throughout the second half, but perhaps just left too much to do in the second half Full Time 3-07 to 2-06. Well done to Killucan, and well done to The Downs who put in a great performance and were in hard luck. Team: Allanah Dowdell, Jane Holton, Aoife Mullen, Lauren Collins, Roisin Murray, Caoimhe Scally, Ciara Wynne, Megan Dowdell, Meadbh Scally, Lucy Power, Sheila McGrath, Oliva Glynn, Britney McNamee, Shauna Conneely, Ciara Faulkner, Orla Murray, Karen Lynam, Helen Tansey, Emily Gallagher, Andrea Daly.
