U14 Girls are County Champions !

Last Saturday morning our U14 ladies travelled to Moate to play the goldsmith girls in the county final. It was the goldsmiths that got the first score after 5 minutes. But The Downs girls reacted quickly with a lovely score. Both teams then settled and traded some brilliant scores. Our girls trailed by one point at the break. In the early stages of the second half The Downs girls came out much stronger adding some nice scores. The goldsmiths found the net ten minutes from the end leaving the game level. But these bunch of girls have a fantastic never say die attitude and regrouped again. With some quick thinking from a free, we found the net in what was a great goal and put The Downs in the clear once again. We then scored a few outstanding points. Our back line proved to be rock solid, while all forwards and midfielders got on the scoresheet at the other end.

The future is definitely looking bright for our ladies football club as this is the first piece of silverware for the downs this year an won't be the last.
