Senior Championship

Sunday evening, in Cusack Park, we played Rosemount in round 2 of the championship. Similar to our last outing The Downs were slow to get into the game and after ten minutes of play trailed 1-04 to 0-02. However, the remainder of the first half belonged to The Downs, Dean Egerton’s goal proving again to be the catalyst for the fast flowing football that was to follow and The Downs held a three point margin at the break, 1-08 to 1-05. The Downs started the second half with confidence and began to open up a significant margin, with Luke Folan, Luke Loughlin and Dean Egerton operating efficiently in attack. While Joe Moran, Shane Egerton and Peter Murray kept the Rosemount attack at bay. Full time 1-17 to 1-10. Team: K. McGuire, P. Murray, S. Egerton, J. Moran, C. Coughlan, D. Egerton, N. Nolan, D. Clarke, S. Raleigh, D. Egerton, L. Folan, H. Caulfield, L. Loughlin, N. Mitchell, A. Loughlin. Subs used: J. Hogan, C. Murray, D. Carroll, N. Gavin, S. Power, A. Kilmartin.
