The Downs gaa membership fees for 2017 are as follows; family €50, single €20, OAP €10, adult player €50, student player €25. Membership can be paid online or to any committee member.

Huge congratulations to all mentors and competitors on Saturday last on representing the all-Ireland finals; it was a magnificent achievement to have so many representing and well done to all involved. A special well done to Emily Shaw on winning the Story Telling, it’s an extraordinary accomplishment, and has done the club proud on the greatest stage. The tradition of Scór in The Downs is incredibly strong and that was visible again on Saturday with huge support present in Belfast, well done everyone.
We kicked off a busy weekend on Saturday last in division 3 against Mullingar Shamrocks. The Downs started the stronger and went into a convincing 1-10 to 0-3 lead at the break. Continuing their hard work rate and positive style of play the lads ran out winners on a 1-17 to 0-5 victory. We hosted Maryland on Sunday morning in the first round of the division 2 league. In what were tough conditions with a strong swirling wind, the lads found it hard to get going in the early stages a fell behind at the interval 0-6 to 0-3. The second half was much improved and The Downs finished the stronger with Kevin Smullen scoring a goal with minutes remaining to put the game beyond the reach of Maryland, Full time The Downs 1-09 Maryland 0-7. The third game of the weekend saw the visit of Garrycastle. Again The Downs appeared to be slow starters, but got things moving late in the first half and continued to dominate the play in the second period running out winners on a 3-13 to 0-14 score line. The Downs Ladies Football
The Ladies football are collecting bags of clothes as a fundraiser, so you can now de-clutter and help the club raise funds. Bags of clothes can be left with any team coach or committee member. Please ask family, neighbours, friends and co-workers to fill a bag. Clothes can be left in the blue bin beside the scoreboard.
Training continues this Friday night 7:30-9pm for all adult and minor players.
