Underage Coaching

Underage coaching continues on Friday evenings 6.30pm to 7.30pm
Players can register at any training session, forms available from the shop upstairs. 

Scor All-Ireland

The Leiriu travelled to Killarney to compete in the All-Ireland, despite giving a flawless performance the judge’s decision went to Monaghan with their performance of a 1916 story. Well done to Sinead Lynam Curley, Niamh Moriarty, Trudie Rowan, Paddy Doherty, Kenny Colgan, John Kennedy, Noel Lynam and Anthony Rowan  for all their hard work. Thanks to all who travelled for their support and encouragement.

Congratulations to Hugo Slevin ( St Josephs) in the Recitation and Bunbrosna in the Set Dancing on winning their All-Irelands.

The Downs Community Alert Group

The Downs Community Alert Group's annual registration morning which takes place in The Downs GAA Club on Saturday 9th April 2016 between 10am & 1pm.

Boys U14 Family Table Quiz:
The lads are travelling to London for the weekend on 13th May to play in a tournament organised by our old friends Dulwich Harps / St. Paul's Academy who we hosted in 2013. To help defray some of the cost, the lads are holding a few fund-raisers between now and then starting with a a second hand jersey sale as below and a Family Table Quiz on Sat 16th April in The Downs Clubhouse. If there are any sponsors out there that feel they could contribute to the trip in any way then please team manager Marc @ 087 8362297.

Second-hand Jersey Sale 

The boys U14's are looking for your second jerseys from any sport ! They will be holding a jersey sale in the near future and need your help ! So please dig out any unwanted jerseys from any sport and any size and bring them to The Downs to underage training for the next few Saturdays at 5pm. Reps from the U14's will be in the clubhouse from 5pm to 6pm or contact Vinny at 086 7780509.

Forbait Coaching Programme

We are running a new in-house coaching initiative aimed at 16+ year old male and females. GAA Foundation level training will be provided and the participants will have an option to get involved with various underage teams subject to their availability. We hope to start off around Easter and anyone interested should contact Marc @ 087 8362297 asap as only a few places remain.

The Downs Celebrates 1916

The Downs GAA was the centre for 1916 commemorations on Saturday. Well done to all who organised the event thanks to all who attended and participated in the proceedings. A special mention should go to everyone who made the excellent presentations/projects on the participants and events of 1916.


Bingo continues every Friday at 8.30, come along and bring a friend for an enjoyable night’s entertainment.

Well done to our Under 14 team on reaching the Feile semi-final but unfortunately met an inform Killucan team who progressed to the final.

Haven Loyalty Cards

We are currently distributing Haven Pharmacy Mullingar Loyalty cards –Haven will contribute towards the fundraising of the club from purchases with the Loyalty Card. Cards are available for extended family and friends.

Clothes Collections

The Ladies Football are collecting bags of clothes as a fundraiser, so you can now de- clutter and help the club raise funds. Bags of clothes can be left with any team coach or committee member. Please ask family, neighbours, friend and co-workers to fill a bag. Clothes can be left in the Blue Bin beside the scoreboard.
